Dear troupe friends and families … just wait until you next entire our theatre! Cast, staff & crew have been busy … to say the least! … physically and creatively!
August saw us enter our 7th Season as one of South Florida’s favorite children’s theatres.
Oliver Twist is our 32nd main-stage production. That’s a lot of actors, professionals, and patrons playing, working, and walking across our beloved playing area!
This season we have continued the popular Commedia series which wowed Renaissance Festival revelers; the edgy, thought-provoking Young Adults’ Theatre series will continue with Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s “The Mystery Plays” on stage this summer. Our recent Young Artists’ Concert was heralded the best yet. And Gisbert brings back his visionary Voci in May.
We continued our partnership with the Palm Beach County School District in offering our amazing Performing Arts Summer Camp which has experienced both artistic and camper growth … we celebrate our fifth season this summer.
We entered into partnership with Children’s Home Society with Open Arms Theatre Project and touched youth lives with the original documentary “Safe Harbor” filmed by Tom Langdon. We continue the program with Don Stansfield on board at the helm. Don has entered into dialogue with Wayne Barton Study Center and the Milagro Center to bring the program to them weekly.
We proudly announced Garry Spear as our new director of Grants and Fundraising. We have already enjoyed the financial and social benefits of Garry in this new position. Our 1st Annual Auction Gala, “A Night in Hollywood”, is just around the corner … and excitement is building!
Our staff of professionals has never been more dedicated or creative as you will witness for yourself with Oliver Twist. Sally Spear, an amazing volunteer, has dedicated hours and hours on set design and scenic art. Many, many parents are more involved than ever behind the scenes: fundraising, costuming, propping, and the myriad items that are required by a busy, flourishing community theatre.
Every individual, on stage and behind the scenes, is working hard to bring quality theatre to our community … all who attend will once again exclaim at the excellence we deliver.
And as always … even with our utmost efforts … expenses exceed income. Ticket sales will barely cover the production costs let alone the theatre’s overhead. We strongly feel that our actors & audiences deserve us to continue “upping the stakes” in all that we do. And we need the help of parents and community to continue in this direction of being committed to the utmost quality in all we do!
We understand that during these difficult economic times that each of our dollars has a place to be spent. But we are asking you at this time, if you are able, to please consider a gift to Sol Children Theatre Troupe as a Phantom underwriting partner of whatever level you are able. You have already received a note from Ron Brown, our office manager, asking for Concessions’ items which makes a nice donation from that area of our theatre guild. If finances are a difficulty, as for many of us this is the case, then please consider donating your time to helping out front – volunteering has become an enjoyable social aspect for the parents of our theatre family. On stage is only a part of the magic that we provide … a warm loving environment in the lobby has become a favorite part of our patrons’ theatre experience.
